I happened to wear a pretty-well-worn Netscape baseball cap yesterday; the sun here is low on the horizon and very bright. The Netscape folks were stoked, but better yet, a Microsoft employee really offered me $20 bucks for it before I told her it's available at the Netscape General Store for nine bucks. The Gates keynote was low-key and, I thought, quite defensive ...nothing like last year. He layed off Netscape but came down hard on Sun and Oracle. The intranet session panel moderator made the comment yesterday, "If you don't know where you want to go today, Microsoft will happily take you for a ride." It brought the house down.
