Yeah. Intel makes more chips in 8 hours than DEC does in a year.
I don't think marketing can overcome DEC's fundamental problem with the Alpha. People want standards. For the most part, they only accept non-standard if the benefits outweigh the aggravation. But with Alpha, there was another aggravation to go with the benefit of speed--limited choices for software priced much higher than for Intel systems.
