Arif Adam was on the overnight flight from South America up to Miami. He could never sleep on the plane, and began to get bored. He had already seen the movie and read all the papers and magazines. He decided to order a glass of wine from the flight attendant, and politely offered a glass to the guy sitting across the aisle from him. The guy across the aisle said, "No thanks, I tried it one time, but I didn't like it, and I never tried it again." Arif Adam said OK, no problem, and drank his glass wine by himself. A little later, the flight attendant came down the aisle and offered the passengers some ice cream for dessert. Arif loved ice cream and enjoyed his dessert. But, his fellow passenger across the aisle told the flight attendant he didn't want ice cream: "No thanks, I tried it one time, but I didn't like it, and I never tried it again." Arif thought, hey, this guy is a little strange. Doesn't like wine, doesn't like ice cream. Still bored, Arif remembered he brought his pocket chess set with him. He asked the guy across the aisle if he liked to play chess. The guy said, "No thanks, I tried it one time, but I didn't like it, and I never tried it again." Then the guy told Arif, "But maybe my son sitting just in front of us would like to play a game." Arif thought for a moment and asked the guy across the aisle, Is he your only child? The guy responded, "Yes, but how did you know?"
