Stocky,
You need not go off on a speculative tangent about FPUs.
What little K6-2-3d stock the distributors had for the grand announcement was sold in one day. The vendors had to pull their adds or jack up prices to stop the phone line and server overload.
Face it, the K6-2-3D is one "hot" chip. Every gamer kid wants one...unless they have already had their parents shell out the big bucks for a Pentium II. Now tell me, why would a gamer buy a Pentium II over a K6-2? So he can use the RAW FPU speed for solid modeling? <G>
Between you and me, I don't play games, but for a few dollars more I'd probably get the K6-2 anyway just in case. Then again, I still like the RAW business app power of the Cyrix chips. To think, I was just about to put a Pentium II system together.
Jim
