The analysts are mostly incompetent. They rely on the company guidance rather than doing their own research. Last year they were changing ratings on Ascend Communications from Strong Buy to Hold long after it nose-dived. This year they went from Hold back to Strong Buy long after it had recovered. Then there was the guy who accurately predicted Manugistics problems just before they became public. Kept his rating a Strong Buy after his report. Stock tanked BIG TIME!! CNBC made jokes about him all day long during the day it took the huge drop. Hundreds of examples of pathetic timing by the analysts if you bother to look. I ignore them. The guys on these threads are much more competent. Jeffrey Bash was ticking me off with his pessimism but he was right. Wish I had been more open-minded.
