eric j parde,

I have worked with auger drill in alluvial deposits in the Yukon for many years. The results we calculated from this turned ot to be 85 %
to 90 % accurate. All the properties we drilled were ofcourse in permafrost so we did not need any casing of the hole.Samples were taken every meter in the goldbearing gravel. Our drillbit would go through bigger boulders and we had very little problems.

I have consulted with other drilling contractors and auger drilling can be done in alluvial deposit if the gravels are tight enough or by using casing. Here in the Klondike there must be abt. 40 auger drills in use,
and they all work very well and are a blessing from the old way of trenching and testing. Accuracy is now much easier to obtain and one can follow the cahnnels without worry.

I hope this is of some help

Sveen
