who would want an AMD Alpha chip that runs at 266mhz Yousef, If AMD were to produce the Alpha, it will be smaller and run a lot faster than those that are made by DEC and Samsung. AMD's process technologies is ahead of DEC and Samsung. Intel has to push back the Merced because the company has been relying on standard process technologies. Without Local Interconnect module, the die size is huge and speed is slow. AMD paid the due and is ahead of Intel in this key module. K7 samples will be out by this fall and will ship one year ahead of Intel.
