Hmmm - I think I said the same thing in both posts but now that you gave me back that tube of glue I'm not sure... In the past I had found the info hpeace provided on CPQ manufacturing operations to be pretty accurate, but I could find no one at CPQ who could validate this particular story. Several examples of CPQ farming out assembly exist, as they do for Dell. In fact one of the assemblers claims to have ongoing contracts to provide this class of assembly for both Dell and CPQ. I don't regard the assembly of CPQ or Dell designed products, with the result shipped back to the parent company for QC, to be anything other than a spot increase in manufacturing capacity. That is a long way from drop-shipping an 3rd party private labeled box.
