How is an online discussion about what "might be happening" any different than David Favor announcing on CNBC that rumors are circulating about a deal? I'm not talking about "inside information" -- just "what if" discussion.

And what's wrong with individual private investors sharing open information -- for example, somebody commenting that they drove by a plant and saw competitors visiting or such. I guess as long as the big guys have their well placed sources, information (leaks, rumors) are okay -- but when the little guys team up to share information that is openly available to anybody who cares to look, it's not okay.

Information is Power -- the fact of the internet is going to change everything. The SEC is trying to shut the barn door after the horse has fled.
