I think ActiveX is recycled "technology" from the original MSN vision, and the real key to the "Embrace and Demolish" internet strategy. Offensive or defensive here is really quibling; I view ActiveX as a real threat to the web as it now exists. I know you disagree on the open argument, Sal, but ActiveX is really a windows-only game. Java may run better on java chips (or it may not...) but ActiveX is a pure Wintel play. Cheers, Dan.
