NEW YORK, April 29, 1998 -- The effects of computer network accessibility and mobility to improve our workstyles and lifestyles will be discussed in two keynote presentations at Networks Expo at the World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, June 2-4 (conferences June 2-4 and exhibits June 3-4). Keynotes will be delivered by Craig Benson, chairman and chief executive officer of Cabletron Systems, and Stephen M. Ward, Jr., vice president, business transformation and chief information officer of IBM.

In today's fast paced world, the average worker usually works longer than 9 to 5. Both keynote addresses will stress the importance of networking and how it will improve worker efficiency, quality and productivity. The keynote addresses will highlight the numerous exhibitors and panel experts at Networks Expo Boston.

Craig Benson will discuss, "Increasing the IQ of Your Network," in his keynote address which will take place on Wednesday, June 3, at 12:30 p.m. Mr. Benson will explore how organizations can modify their current networks to provide high-speed access and maximum uptime that will deliver the right information to the right person at the right time. Mr. Benson will discuss how institutions can modify their existing networks and increase bandwidth, security and management capabilities that allow for the deliverance on important service level agreements.

"For an organization to be effective, it must rely on two key components: quality people and the efficient exchange of information," says Mr. Benson. "Through the creation of network technology, we can effectively link these two assets and provide the necessary tools to reach targeted goals."

Stephen M. Ward, Jr., will bring his expertise in mobile computing to the topic,

"Work, Life and Mobility," in his role as the second-day keynote speaker at Networks Expo Boston, on Thursday, June 4 at 12:30 p.m. Mr. Ward will discuss how the combination of networking technology and mobile computing is empowering employees to work more productively while also helping companies achieve their business objective.

Today's employees, says Mr. Ward, increasingly need the ability to run their lives - - and their companies - - in new and different ways. He will show examples of people around the globe who are using digital and communications devices to access networks of information from any place at any time.

Craig Benson is chairman and chief executive officer of Cabletron Systems, one of the world's largest and most successful networking companies. Along with partner Bob Levine, Mr. Benson founded Cabletron in 1983. Cabletron has grown from a two-man operation in 1983 to a $1.4 billion market leader. Mr. Benson, along with partner Mr. Levine, was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 1991 by Inc. magazine. He graduated from Babson College with a degree in finance and an MBA from Syracuse University.

Stephen M. Ward, Jr. is vice president, business transformation and chief information officer at IBM. Mr. Ward oversees IBM's business process and information technology investments and establishes IBM's overall reengineering and information technology directions. Mr. Ward began his career with IBM in 1978 as an engineer in the Disk Drive division and has held various positions including director of system manufacturing. Most recently Mr. Ward was general manager, IBM's Mobile Computing, including the IBM ThinkPad brand. Mr. Ward holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic University.
