INTC's delay of Merced until mid-2000 has mid-term ramifications for DELL. DELL's strategy of moving into the high-end server business is now subsequently delayed for another 6-9 months. Doubt that DELL's uptrend can be sustained by the current PC business climate. The major leg of domestic PC growth has occurred for this phase, inter/intranet communications is the bottleneck now, not processing power.
