Pass this along if you want to:
Hi guys! Uncle Pete here. I went through all that jazz with my mom and dad too, except they were about twice as tight as your mom and dad.
I know what they are missing. They have not actually been to school and found out about the Psychologists and the Social Workers and all of that invading the schools in the last 15 years. Here is the deal: the grownups don't have a friggin' clue. Just kidding. Actually some grownups know a lot, (like me, and your dad and mom) and some are dillweeds (like the bonehead that told you about "secondary virginity". No mention of secondary pregnancy, secondary abortion or secondary clap, ha ha)
The truth is that the whole educational system has gotten really crazy. Back when I was in high school, (before computers and Nutra-Sweet and Japanese cars) we actually had to study and take tests and all that. Not to imply that you don't. If there was a moron in the class, the moron failed. The thing was, the moron was responsible for the situation he or she was in.
Nowadays, the school counselor thinks that you are a product of your environment. Kinda like a rat in a maze. They think you are a leaf in the wind and if a plane flies overhead and you see it, you might have suicidal tendencies. The part you can't see is that this concept has been brewing for about 25 years. It's like food stamps. People on food stamps sometimes think that they "deserve" it. They have had a "hard time" and everybody "owes them something". The attitude is that the "government" or the "state" or "somebody" is the reason they are all f**ked up. The truth, as we all know, is that they are f**ked up because they think somebody owes them something.
It's kind of a circle. Somebody says "You poor thing, you have had a hard time. Here, take some free stuff."
Then they get the idea that they are owed the free stuff. Then they don't feel like they have to go out and work to get stuff because if they don't work, they will keep getting free stuff. I know it sounds insane, but that's the way it started out.
Then, things get worse. If you don't have a way to make money, you feel really sh*tty. No money, no job, you feel bad. So maybe you do something you wouldn't do under ordinary circumstances, like peddle a little weed. Not you personally, I mean maybe somebody you know. Now you have a problem, and the Psychologists and School Counselors come in and see that you need more help. You are in a "bad environment".
They don't see that their whole plan is friggin' nuts, and they have to save face and make sure they keep getting the federal money themselves, so they come up with a plan: drug the "bad" kids. That's where we are now, they are giving Prozac and other stuff to grade school kids that get too excited. Pretty wild, huh?
So now we have deluxe fruitcake kids, doped up kids, and violent kids, all because they are in the "wrong environment". Yeah, right.
Whose fault is it? Good question. Part of it is my fault for not shooting the Psychologists and School Counselors in the head (just kidding), part is each kid's fault for going along with the stupid program, part is the parent's fault for not paying attention to what the f**k was going on in the schools (and voting for the wrong a**hole), part is the government's fault for passing out all the money that they take away from your mom and dad (and which by the way is being taken away from you if you think about it), and most of it, in my opinion, is because the field of "mental health" is run by a bunch of psychopaths with a lot of backup from the big drug companies. There is some stuff about church that I could throw in, but I don't want to give you the wrong idea. You are quite right, you can spiritual without being religious, ( and that is the key, actually.)
So don't blame your mom and dad too much. They did a really good job with you. At least you can see what is happening around you and can make intelligent choices.
I've been through a lot, and I hope you don't mind if I offer a bit of advice. Don't take drugs. Drugs are not good. Trust me on this. Don't give your money away. You worked for it and you earned it and you deserve to keep it. If anyone ever whines to you about the terrible situation they are in because of [somebody/the weather/the teacher/the boss/the job/the government/the state/etc.] you can just look at them and smile and say;
"Wake up, Sleepy. You either drive the car or you sit back and shut up and hope we don't crash."
Actually that's not a good metaphor. Here is a better one, say:
"Yo, Jack. Think about it a minute or two before you point that thing and fire it, because the action is just starting."
or:
"Yeah, you shine my bike up till I have to wear shades and I'll pay you a couple of bucks, but this ain't Christmas and I ain't Santy Claws."
Give your dad a hug and your mom a kiss and stay out of trouble.
See? Some grownups have half a clue. Narf!
