Hi David. I read your post with great interest. I know that you are very much more knowledgeable in software things and the likes than I am. But I can't go along with some of those things you are saying. I have windows and I have absolutely no problem with Msft impeding on me. Maybe I am naive but, since Msft is bringing out windows, I see no reason why they should not be allowed to integrate their browser etc. on their front page. You don't have to use it. I don't use their Internet Explorer, I use Netscape and if I can find what I want, anybody else should have no problem. To ask Msft to put competing browsers onto their front page does not make sense. It brings that statement to mind: Why doesn't coke have to sell 3 Pepsis with every six pack of coke? But I am sure something will be changed.

If you all just recently found some problems in your business with Msft, I am sure that I will have a long way to go before it makes my life hard. gg. How come you are not using NT? When you talk about internatl. standards, sorry, it kind of makes me laugh. If our GVT is worried about Anti Trust and internatl. standards, what ever happened to the metric system? Now there is something to chew on. Talking about being behind the ball. Sorry for going off subject here.

Anyhow, I just think that GVT is interfering too much into business and I am afraid that a lot of those companies and their lawyers and the GVT are not totally worried about fair business practices. Or do you really think so? I feel that we should let innovation have their day. Would Netscape have complained if they were as successful as Msft? Somehow everybody always wants a little piece from somebody else's hard work. Mr. Clinton said he wants to ride the technology wave into the 21 st century. Who do you have in mind? Netscape? I don't see any other companies helped by this. Start ups? There have been start ups as long as the world has existed. Someone always has innovated. Some better, some worse. I can think of bigger Monopolies (if that's what they want to call it) than Msft.
Have you tried browsers that were developed abroad? Have you ever downloaded Opera and things like that? Do all those overseas companies adhere to internatl. standards? I think not. I think there is plenty of competition out there for MSFT and INTEL. I don't believe that the GVT has to be part of it. I can't believe that when a company finds a way to have an edge over competition, that's called bad business practice. I always say: Don't buy what you don't like or want.
BTW, let the GVT spent our tax dollars and help our companies compete more in overseas markets.

All this comes from a non Msft user. gg. And I don't own very much of Msft at this time. Where was everybody when Netscape was king? And they still own over 60% of the market. If they innovate they will beat Msft.
