FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1998--Sigma Designs, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIGM -news), a recognized leader in digital video solutions for personal computers, announced today the appointment of William K. Wong as Vice President, Marketing. Mr. Wong, 50, will be responsible for developing business strategies, product marketing, and third-party relationships to promote Sigma's advanced Internet/intranet video products as well as REALmagic silicon and software products for DVD/MPEG-2 decoding.
In commenting on the appointment, Thinh Tran, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated: ''Bill brings over 28 years of technical and marketing experience in PC, multimedia, and semiconductor products to Sigma Designs. With his solid background and experience in the Asia Pacific region, I am confident that he will be instrumental in helping us extend our strong DVD/MPEG-2 position with the PC original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Asia and with the Internet/intranet video providers in the global interactive multimedia marketplace.''
Previously, Mr. Wong spent three years as Business Development Director at National Semiconductor Corporation [NYSE:NSM - news], where he played a key role in developing strategic partnership programs with leading technology corporations in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to National, Mr. Wong served as Vice President of Marketing for Diamond Multimedia Systems from 1993-1995. Prior to 1993, Mr. Wong had 18 years of senior marketing and sales management positions at Intel Corporation [Nasdaq:INTC - news]. In 1984, Mr. Wong received the Intel individual achievement award for opening and developing Intel's People's Republic of China business. From 1972-1975, Mr. Wong was a senior staff engineer at Control Data Corporation.
