Doug, I don't know if we will ever hear the true story for the delay in Merced. I haven't heard much in the way of yammering from big cos. for this chip in their normal operations. For engineering, yeah, but they are always yammering for some way not to have to do any work at all. <G>

It is nice to manipulate data bases. But we have to remember that 90% of what businesses do is typing and simple accounting. A 486 performs those functions just fine. Thus, there are still mostly 486s out there. My contention would be that any upgrade to Merced would be limited in scope and not have nearly the impact the upgrade to Pentium had. Though it should have more impact than Pentium to Deuce, which simply didn't happen.
