A classic case of throw the baby out with the bath water. 12 month range $5 7/8-$32 5/8
Last $11 1/8.
CYBX's management recently decided to increase sales, marketing, clinical support and insurance functions by tripling their personnel to enhance the breadth of US sales. This was greeted by the momentum boys hammering the stock from $32 to $11, because this was going to push CYBX's profitablity out maybe 1-2 quarters. A smart corporate business strategy, met with equally stupid reaction by large money managers, and the stock tanked big time.

CYBX has an FDA approved device called the NCP which is the first device approach to treat epilepsy in over 100 years. This device is highly patented and is in commercial sales in the US and in more than 20 foreign countries. This pacemaker like device offers new hope, and a clinically proven enhanced "quality of life" to the 50 million epilepsy sufferers worldwide. There are more than 200,000 patients in the USA who are immediate candidates for the NCP thru April 1998. CYBX has sold about 1300 systems into the US market.

In the USA today there are 450,000 epileptics who are drug refractory, that is, they are unsatisfactorily treated by drugs and or have intolerable side effects. Drug costs run to as much as $12,000 per patient per year. At a currrent selling price of $9000 in the US, the current potential marketplace for the NCP system represents a $4+billion opportunity for Cyberonics
