Now that the Windows 95 upgrade windfall is over, Microsoft is showing difficulty getting sales growth (look at their Q1 rate of only 15% for the quarter ending 9/96). By contrast Oracle's steady rates of 40% over the last several quarters look really good, and much higher than Microsoft is likely to maintain over the next year or 2 (and you cannot talk about the different sales base, because Microsft sales are only about double Oracle's, and that growth differential could reduce that quickly.
