Did anyone catch the CNBC report on the rise in web advertising dollars??? Try to catch it if you can. I'm sure they'll replay it.

Some highlights:
Web advertising dollars (from Jupiter Communications):
$300 million - 1996
$900 million - 1997
$1.9 billion - 1998 (est)

They also mentioned that the large NY advertising firms (e.g. Sache & Sache (sp???)) are starting to form independent divisions just to handle this huge increase. Also mentioned is that this need for companies to advertise on the web is coming from none other than corporate CEO's.

Much to my chagrin, at the end of the report, Amanda Grove said that few have profited from this huge increase in ad $$$$$'s outside of Yahoo, Lycos, and Excite. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that SEEK was #2 in regards to straight web ad revenue (behind Yahoo). Does anyone have a link to confirm or correct this? CM, I guess this is your research report for today <g>.

Happy SEEKing...
