Intel can split anytime the board approves it. The authorized shares number oft quoted here as a reason they can't split, is being misused. That number represents the total number of shares Intel can print. If they split the shares they are not changing the capitalization one share. It just represents the total shares they are allowed to print. So if they split the authorization number doubles, assuming 2:1.
