<<I think the continuing sell-off in Dell is related to their missing the whisper number. Analysts are concerned, so we have a sell-off. Of
course, the Intel announcement is dragging down the tech
sector...including Dell.>>

Gotta disagree.

All big-name techs have been going down for past 2/3 weeks. (Take your pick- only Cisco has held up well, down 6% or so off highs)
Nasdaq 9.5 % off its high. Computer index down about 14%.
IMO, this is your "once, twice a year tech" correction, nothing more, nothing less. It especially appears that way when "Asia worries" are continually quoted in the press for the reason for the decline in the tech sectors, when, in fact, Dow stocks (which have a larger exposure to Asian economies) have held up pretty well. What? Shouldn't they be getting hammered worse (on fundamentals?)....I guess what I'm trying to say is many investors, muni-fund managers (who are have done relatively well so far this year) are nervous, they want to sell right now, and are selling the "high-flying tech stocks".....Another example, the delay of Merced is a probably a nuetral for Dell (or even a slight positive), as this thread has noted, yet Dell sells off today. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

All this is great for patient, long-term, dip buyers (and holders)...(if they pick the right companies, like Dell). Even CPQ is looking a little cheap (although I think one should wait several months to see how the DEC indigestion goes).....

For the guy who mention MDell is selling 1.2 million shares...Thnxs for the info...but is insignificant compared to his total holdings......Does not provide any useful indication of future stock direction. Thnx anyway..
