Jim,

re: How long after tapping out a chip can we expect it to be in production?

If you give the mask shop two weeks, manufacturing eight weeks, packaging and test a week or two, you're looking at about three months. Then the product has to be shipped to the OEM box makers, integrated into their products, and then shipped to the retailers; adding another month. I would give four months from tapeout to store shelves. But, this assumes that everything goes well. Just because it has been taped out, doesn't mean it will work as simulated or otherwise expected (look what happened to the GX 233 and the metal mask fixes they had to make).

Pravin.
