A San Jose Mercury News article this weekend mentioned LSI as an alternative to INTC, if one were getting impatient with INTC. One of these days though, the 800 pound gorilla is going to get mad and kill a couple of AMD's and NSM's. Nah, need them in the FTC/DOJ probes.

Our super sleuth over on Intel, Paul Engel, is looking into the "real" reason for the Merced slip. I'm reasonably comfy with Craig Barrett's explanation that it is a program management problem, having enough/too much experience with humongous projects like that. They always do slip because they are impossible to plan with the thousands of tasks and thousands of interdependencies you have to deal with. Anyway, I'll try to keep this thread posted, as a lot of so goes Intel, so goes the SOX, is true.
