Well, I'm glad I waited on this one.

I checked around and it seems the worry is not so much the upcoming product cycle (called Galaxy) but the worry is how long that product cycle lasts. It might be only 6-12 months before a new round of design wins become important.

One Wall Street analyst likens it to the ocean. There is a "big wave" coming (outsourcing chip development by major OEM's, especially at the low-end) but "the undertow is strong" (prices are dropping fast).

My bet is GALTF still has a run in it but momentum mutual funds dominate stocks like these so you have to time your trading just right or else you can get killed. I liken this to the graphics war over the last few years. That was boom/bust. S3 went over $1b market cap for a while. That would equate to a GALTF price of $49. Sentiment on semi's is atrocious right now so I ain't going to try to call the bottom here. However, once we get past pre-announcement sentiment time (there will likely be a few semiconductor blow-ups this quarter), GALTF will come back.

Anybody closer to the industry out there want to talk about how much more pricing can go down?
