Redhead, It's a fifteen minute drive. We are all going to have dinner down there on Saturday night, don't forget. As for your shopping preferences, downtown has an area called the Mercado. It is an area that houses many little shops with mostly imports from Mexico. Once you are downtown, you can hitch a trolly car for a dime to take you to the Mercado that is about 15 LOOOng blocks from the Riverwalk. One of my favorite restuarants is located there that you would enjoy for the flavor of typical Mexican Food, serving sizzling platters of fajitas and huge mugs of Margaritas. The name of that is La Margarita, and the family also owns another restuarant next door called Mi Tierra, also good food, but I mostly like to shop in the bakery there. A shop you would like in the Mercado is called the Teguila Tree. So much to see and do - so little time ! c
