Actually, I don't think Intel "dominated" the 486 market after Pentium because
they wanted to transition the market away from the 486.

Somebody implied several days ago that AMD didn't ship many 486s after the
Pentium was established. If you go back and check company reports I think
you will find they shipped 10+ million in 1995 after Pentium was well established.
