Jim - Re: Acer

In some computers (I believe I saw an ACER notebook in a Home Depot) from ACER they use Cyrix chips.

In most of their desktop PCs, they use Intel chips - especially their high end. All the ACER adds I see - in PC Week, PC Magazine, PC World, etc. have that silly little "Intel Inside" logo that we have all come to love so dearly.

Just for reference - before you become too enamored with ACER switching over entirely to a Cyrix chip - the head of ACER America is Ron Chwang.

Ron was a former SRAM and DRAM designer for Intel in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Although he has been with ACER America for many years, I believe he is still on speaking terms with Intel's upper management.
