a shorter term view: << Seragen's fusion proteins have three functional components - a targeting domain that binds with target receptor cells; a "molecular syringe" that pierces the cell membrane; and the toxic portion, which slips inside the cell and destroys it. >> While we are slowly and painfully losing our arses, on this stock, we might as well see what cards we've been dealt! <g> This fusion stuff, that LGND gets with Seragen, is some pretty cool stuff. It reminds me of the contraptions that you see in a James Bond movie. These proteins are some pretty smart dudes, capable of attaching to, and then injecting a poison in a specific type of cell, to kill it. And.......... all this science is almost totally wasted, right? If, instead of curing cancer, these smart proteins were really smart, they would figure out a way to do what Viagra does, while it is seeking out, and killing cancer cells. Imagine getting your cancer cured, and getting Willy working at the same time! It would be worth billions! <g> Good luck, Bob |
