Hi Bob; That one I posted was not really all that bad, look at post 19594, and then my reply to it 19598 ( just yet the number in the message # box and hit enter ) then hit the back button to return here..but maybe you have discovered that short cut already. ------- I looked at your ADEX and ASYT ...and they don't look to bad, but I'm getting out of buying tech stocks..to doggone often I think they have hit bottom, and the funds come along when the market is closed and take them out behind the barn, and by the time they reopen they are striped. With all the hype and such you can't believe any thing they say or even send to the SEC any more. I'll have to look at those two some more , if they have some options I might chance a few calls. At least with calls I know how much I can lose before going in, ( limit the risk ) ------------ A tail about AMD..back in 96 I bought her ( caught the falling knife ) and did OK ..but wound up tieing up a lot of money she had a $18 book value I started buying at 16 and went all the way down to 10,,then she went up..and I sold and she went up even more well I sold to soon but at least I made money..but said gosh if I had just held, well she is back down now..below were I sold , so being I made something I looked again..guess what after all the hype and the big run up and two years..guess what ? Some how she has less book value per share now than she did when I was buying her for $10..how can this be ? How over time can these hot shot companies make so much money and the book value drop, how can sales go up and earnings down, it's all a game, just a game, a few winners and over time lot of loser's. The day of buy and hold is over ( at least for tech stocks ) the fund managers talk it but they don't do it. And more and more the index funds are all computer program trading baskets, in and out and in and out , and scalping the value out of the stocks. Jim PS some tricks for yahoo if you run basket portfolios you likely know you have several way you can display them.
The neat trick is at the end of the string in the window you can add codes to chart the whole basket at one time, &d=1d ( gets interday charts ) or &d=1y yearly or &d=1ys ( year with S&P ) or &d=1ym ( year MA 200&50 ) or &d=3ms ( 3 months with S&P ) or &d=3mm for moving averages ---------- |
