K6-2-300 @ Best Buy: I went out to Best Buy to check out the CTX K6-2-300 today. The system includes 6.4G hard drive, 512K L2 cahce-100MHz bus speed, 64M SDRAM, CD ROM, 3D-surround speaker system, and modem. System sells for $1299. A similar K6-300 CTX system sells for $1199. K6-3D systems will be a running success and hot item for Christmas gift. The reasons are that AMD has priced the K6-2 at a price that will be difficult for Intel to beat and AMD has introduced just in time for the holiday. People don't have to wait for 3DTomorrow! of Katmai (Intel will probably announce another delay for this chip) and can buy 3DNow! of K6-2. (Now you know where the 3DNow! came from(. The K6-300 will play like the PII-400 under 3DNow! games. This is system is roughly $800 less than an equivalent PII-400. AMD K6-2 has neutralized Intel PII. THERE IS NO ADVANTADGE TO SLOT1.
