Mike,

I got here also after being run out of amat board for posting on asian situation. I read Jess' update on asia -very interesting, especially japan situation which I view as the key to the situation. nothing has changed my opinion that japan -because of its stubborn, persistent refusal to implement banking and financial sector reforms- will cause the situation there to worsen significantly. indeed, I forsee a full blown major recession bordering on depression being triggered there which will be significantly more painful than anything they have experienced in the past 8 years or so, not to speak of the ramifications it will have on the entire region. I am constantly amazed -utterly amazed- at the stupidity/stubborness of the japanese leaders when it comes to economic programs and strategies. they seem intent on making a square peg fit into a round hole....they just don't get it. Any thoughts on what congress will do with IMF funding request. heard ruben last night on cnn begging congress to pass it again...

regards
