Embedded systems is the "growth issue" of the Y2K focus, according to the Admin's Y2K Czar, John Koskinen. Granted, not a revelation, but at least it is the right message. This perspective was highlighted at a CSIS session this morning, which reportedly included Sen. Bennett and DeJaeger among the speakers.

Some MAJOR manufacturers are just now moving into the "what if" stage re embedded chips, i.e., what if the trains stop moving due to problems with track switches, what if critical parts shipments are delayed and thereby disrupt our "just-in-time" inventory system, etc.

Look for Clinton to at least mention Y2K during his commencement speech at MIT this Friday.
