Comments on the Banshee, not encouraging ...

This was posted today in Cyrellis's E3 summary...the guy had this
to say after seeing the Banshee 'behind closed doors'. He couldn't
say much, cause he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement :

" The Voodoo2 will probably remain the high-end choice for 3D gaming fans. The Banshee will most likely appeal greatly to its possible target buyer, that is the entry-level/medium range gamer who
considers cost to be as big of a concern as performance. "

To me this indicates that Banshee will be a disappointment. It
certainly seems like Banshee won't be that powerful, if it will
appeal to the entry-level / medium range gamer.

Thats a big mistake for 3dfx. If they can't produce a powerful
2d/3d card, they're gonna lose big time to Matrox, PowerVR, and
especially Riva TNT in that market. And if any of these competing cards are at least as fast as Voodoo 2, then 3dfx is just generally
gonna lose out.
