Glenn,
Cisco is a member of UAWG consortium to create a universal standard for consumer ADSL, it also has a stake in NetSpeed which it purchased from Nortel.

As far as the Sprint announcement goes, it doesn't necessairly mean the end of ADSL or any of DSL technologies, in fact rather the opposite as Sprint would need to lease copper lines from the local carriers, it would still need a highbandwidth technology.

Furthermore, for two way highbandwidth transmission, HDSL is still the cheapest way to go by far and with good copper becoming scarser, there is going to be more and more of a demand for HDSL2, which should be good for PAIR.

Hope it's of help.
