OK, but the question is this: Is Dell the low cost producer among the big box makers? I think they have excellent production control, a really first class organization, but are they the low cost producer, I don't know.

Another, somewhat related question. Is Dell's ASP dropping or isn't it? Someone said Michael Dell, at the Paine Webber conference is announcing that ASP is not falling, for Dell anyway. I'm pretty sure it's falling at Compaq, IBM, and HP, but maybe not at Gateway. Does this mean that Dell (and possibly Gateway) are selling a differentiated product from what Compaq, IBM, and HP are selling? Is this because Dell is a direct seller, while those three have to go through retail channels, where their boxes sit next to each other and where consumers can very easily compare prices?
