To my disk drive buddies with a risk tolerance: The most exciting stock I have come across in a while is Lukoil (LUKOY on the bullitin board-third tier ADR). Hihglights are that it is Russia's largest oil company, ARCO owns 8%, as best I can determine market cap/proven reserves is under $1 per barrel with lots of gas, refineries and service stations thrown in. (Costs majors about $4 per barrel just to find oil. Exxon capitalized at about $20 per barrel of proven reserves.) Planned listing on NYSE 1999. Stock down to low 40s after high of about $113. Would suggest reading the entire history of posts on Silicon investor to know as much as possible since info is quite sparse.My take is that this is an opportunity to own the Exxon of Russia so that if Russia someday has a strong capitalist future the investment should be great.
