Bob,
I use E*Trade for options trading. Looks strange - I tried to place a Sell-Close order for the pre-split PUT symbol, and it says OK. I tried to do the same for split-adjusted PUT symbol, and it says I'll be overcommitted by 10 contracts in my account. If E*Trade never did adjust your option position, how do you close these?

<< Alex, who is your broker? When AOL split, E*Trade never did adjust my option position on the "Portfolio Summary" screen. They haven't for AMZN either, there or on the "Account Positions" screen. However, your position quantity, in reality, has doubled and the strike has split in half. The symbols have changed. The Jun 85 puts, for example, are now Jun 42 1/2 puts with a symbol of ZQNRV. I haven't tried to trade mine, so who knows what E*Trade would do. Probably screw it up - I'd give odds. But one should be able to trade existing contracts at the adjusted quantity and strike today, no interruption. Good luck, Bob >> |
