Company Press Release SOURCE: Linkon Corporation Linkon To Demo IP Telephony on the Sun Platform at Supercomm
FAIRFIELD, Conn., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Linkon Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: LKON - news) today announced that it will conduct live demonstrations of its voice and fax over Internet Protocol (IP) technology at the Supercomm 98 trade show (June 8-11), in the Sun Microsystems booth (#8839). The demonstration will feature Linkon Corporations LinkNet(TM) IP Telephony Gateway designed for Sun Microsystems' new generation of PCI-bus SPARC(TM) chip-based servers, including the Sun Netra(TM) T 1100 and Sun Enterprise(TM) 450 servers.
''Linkon is delighted to be joining forces with Sun in demonstrating what is certainly one of the hottest and most important new communications technologies of the century. Supercomm provides an ideal venue for displaying new breakthrough telecommunications technology,'' says Marc Robins, Director of Marketing at Linkon. ''And I can't think of a better endorsement of Linkon technology than this vote of confidence from the undisputed leader in network computing.''
According to Chris Hurst, vice president, worldwide telecommunications and cable industries, Sun Microsystems, ''The use of IP to deliver high quality voice and fax communications around the world will grow significantly in the next couple of years. The Linkon technology, coupled with Sun systems and technologies, will help propel advanced voice and fax over IP communications to the forefront of the telecommunications industry faster than any previous technological innovation,'' added Hurst.
The demonstration of the LinkNet(TM) IP Telephony Gateway features the largest single commercial release of new Linkon technology in the company's history. Among the new enhancements includes integrated IP voice and fax communications, IP switching, consolidated logging and reporting functions, SS7 (Signaling System 7) protocol support, telco-grade hardware-based echo-cancellation, a robust ''QoS'' (Quality of Service) and network management feature-set, and enhanced services support for interactive voice response and speech recognition.
Reading this, I realize that LKON is in Fairfield CT, not the trade show. Oooops.
