Francis,

AMD is focusing on the gaming and entertainment segment. They said as much on the K6-2 release.

This is know in business strategy as a niche strategy. A niche strategy is when you go after a market that is too small for your larger competitors to target or serve. That is clearly not the case in the gaming and entertainment segment. This segment has been specifically targeted by Intel. In fact, while the first generation Celeron doesn't perform at high levels for business applications, it does very well with game applications (a point highlighted by Intel at their analyst conference).

The K6-2 may be a superior chip to the Celeron, but AMD is putting it up against the strength of Intel's product line.

Sounds like Sanders read the books on business strategy (similar to Sun Tzu), but decided to follow Clauswitz instead.
