Dwight -- Re: I thought it was interesting where I read that you have heard complaints from people running IE, and so recommended Netscape....for me it's the opposite: I have seen posts here on SI where people complained vehemently about Netscape's browser, and happy IE users responding to recommend IE. So your comments about that are flawed.

Those comments were based on my observations. So to say they're flawed because you've seen contradictory posts on SI is totally bogus. We're talking about two different samples from two different populations. Also, I never claimed that my sample size is statistically significant. Is yours?

So are we going to have the DOJ break up MSFT based on the comments of an internal memo, but NOT on the merits of what MS has actually done...

We've seen what microsoft has done. The memos show why (intent).

Talk about the government as bumbling fools, making comments about "developing a chokehold on the browser software needed".. I sure hope Microsoft lawyers are listening in here.

When Reno said: "No firm should be permitted to use its monopoly power to develop a chokehold on the browser software needed to access the Internet," this is what she was talking about:

Paul Maritz, the company's group VP in charge of the Platforms Group: "We are going to cut off [Netscape's] air supply. Everything they're selling, we're going to give away for free."

CEO Bill Gates: "Our business model works even if all Internet software is free ...We are still selling operating systems. What does Netscape's business model look like? Not very good."

Senior VP James Allchin: "I am convinced we have to use Windows - this is the one thing they don't have."
