Applied Materials (AMAT) soared 9 to 99-3/8 after beating Wall Street estimates with a quarterly profit of 77 cents per share while Rambus (RMBS) improved 2-3/4 to 67-3/4 as it released 750,000 shares related to last May's initial public offering.
