FONy? No, but seemingly not the technological breakthrough touted - just Sprint trying to grab the first fanfare for what will become commonplace - broadband datacom networks. The CNBC segment showed the hub - with port switches that clearly read "ADSL". Fron Network World: nwfusion.com (free registration) "..Sprint will have to seek cooperation from local phone companies, which must provide Sprint access to their customers so the telco can link FastBreak directly to existing lines..." Gee, they have an ATM based Sonet network, and still need that local loop through an RBOC? And the revolution is where? "..It is most likely that Sprint will seek to put FastBreak switches in local switching centers, thereby bypassing traditional interconnect agreements..." Don't know exactly what THIS means - co-location? And can't wait to see how WCOM and QWST respond.
