Dear Bob,

Everything you said is absolutely correct, yet might have been said five years ago (excepting the last bit about OLED and other pre-emerging technologies). My point is that incremental improvement is absolutely the bane of FED and other technologies. LCD Materials will improve and become faster, pixel densities will increase, as will aperture ratio, and there are many good schemes to improve viewing angle already. I don't have to tell you how long it took for LCD to gain share from CRT. My money's not on FED as a technology which will gain large market share at anytime, although nobody can argue that there isn't a niche for almost any technology, and a large one for FED.

I find low-T poly most interesting as a breakthrough technology for personal displays. I am definitely ready to bet that LTPSi wins the market share war vs. Kopin, TFS/NatSemi and the like. That is why I thought the Toshiba announcement significant, not because of its incremental improvements for the desktop.
