Thank you, Phil. Short interest today is generally the brokerages borrowed stock to sell to the new customers. They have no time limit to return the stock. But they have to make money buying them back, sooner or later. That is fact.

What actually happens is more complex; but the short interest is too small to be bothered in this case with SEMI. Some loaners may call the stock back, the brokerage may lose money. But in general, brokerages keep stock prices low to buy the borrowed stock back.
