I agree that the site is weaker than it should be. I'm long, and an original day-one member, but I'm not really impressed--yet. I frankly find it so slow that I don't even have the time to look at everything they've built. This is the biggest problem. The next biggest problem, IMO, is the organization of the message area (at least as of a few days ago). I find the little faces more distracting than helpful, and the topic areas and messages don't really flow in a way that I find intuitive or natural. Consequently I find it difficult to communicate my ideas or requests for improvement, etc.
The graphics are heavier than is necessary, adding to the slow down. There should be a "kill big graphics" button for users of >56k modems, etc.
Speaking of messages on the PNLK thread, last I looked there was a portentous absence of any significant quantity of messages from people actually using the site. Anybody else notice this?
I'm holding long term for a lot of the same reasons as others, but it is about time we face some user issues here, IMHO, and not just "when will the price of the stock hit," and, "where's a fresh PR?" posts." Any constructive thoughts? Best of luck to the thread,ÿÿKevin
PS: I'll cc to GZ later in the day if it helps... |
