Not the professional investment community. Anyone just taking net income as their sole financial criteria for their investment decisions is dangerous to oneself.
For operating performance: gross margin, operating margin, pretax margin, ROA, ROE, ROC...
Return on equity analysis: ROE, asset turnover financial leverage...
Debt ratios: total debt to total assets, total debt to equity, LT debt to equity, total debt to EDITD...
Employee data: employee growth, sales per employee, assets per employee...
Valuation measures: price earnings ration, price to sales ration price to book ratio.
Per share data items: sales revenue per share, working capital, operating Income per share, Earning per share, book value per share, cashflow per share, free cash per share...
Not to mention institutional ownership and so on...
I know this is not new to you, but may be of some help for others on this thread. If one does not perform proper due diligence and above is just a portion of that process, that person is not making an informed decision.
