The iAPX432 was about 10 years ahead of it's time. It was a phenominal chip in terms of capabilities and ideas. One cannot help but wonder what such a chip would be like if manufactured on todays advanced .25um processes, with todays high-speed buses, clockrates and peripherals.

That would be one chip I would be "proud" to own.. and Intel would be the one that made it ;-)

I remember reading a fair amount about the 432 and everything I have read about it sounds wonderful. It's a pity it was too complex for the time (well too complex for manufacturing at that time). Wouldn't it be nice to be using chips that are decendants of the 432 instead of the 8086?
