Raymond, you are not the only person who has problems with Emile. I don't know if you lurked here before jumping in or anything, but his nickname is Evil Emile. Not everyone here is like him, though. Some of us welcome finding out more about different religious belief systems.
In America Arabs are the last group it is okay to grossly stereotype in cartoons. There is a huge lack of understanding of Arab culture, and all the contributions to science, mathematics and other disciplines that have been made by them.
I realize you are telling us about Islam, not Arabs, and that most Muslims are not Arabs. But both of these subjects are intertwined for most Americans, and I for one am glad that the discussion over here is broadening. I think it is really difficult for people to understand each other, and hopefully get along, until there is some kind of open communication and basic understanding of each others' belief systems. |
