SERVICE SYSTEMS RECEIVES ORDER FOR UV SYSTEM FROM THE MONTREAL SUBURB OF ROSEMERE-LORRAINE

VANCOUVER, CANADA - SERVICE SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL Ltd. (OTC/BB, SVSY) announces that it has received a purchase order for an UltraGuard UV (ultraviolet) disinfection system from the municipality of Rosemere-Lorraine, a suburb of the city of Montreal, Quebec.

The purchase by the municipality of Rosemere-Lorraine includes the patented UltraGuard system reactor, a flow balanced weir, and an eighteen High Intensity lamp system with an automated cleaning attachment. Engineers have incorporated future provisions into the design for an expansion from the 7.5 MGD (million gallon per day) to a 12.6 MGD facility for an additional 12 lamps. The total purchase price of this installation is approximately CDN$420,000.00.

The Company announced February 18th 1998 that it had been pre-selected for the supply of this UltraGuard UV System at Rosemere-Lorraine, based on the exceptional biological test result achieved by its production demonstration unit.

An independent engineering study completed by Dessau Engineering of Montreal confirms that the Ultra guard UV System utilizes superior technology to efficiently treat waste water effluent. The Ultra guard UV System is particularly effective at treating effluent which has low transmissions (very murky) with fewer lamps and greater power savings. In comparison, a Medium Pressure System would require approximately 54 lamps in order to meet the processing requirements at the Rosemere-Lorraine facility. Total annual power consumption at the facility will be 249,000 watts as opposed to 1,500,000 watts required by a comparable medium pressure lamp system. At one-sixth of the total power consumption, the Ultra Guard system will result in a saving of CDN$37,530.00 per year. It's automated cleaning system will also reduce labor and maintenance costs.

This is the third in a series of contracts announced over the past five months. Total sales from these contracts have now surpassed $CDN 750,000.00. In addition, the Company anticipates replacement lamp revenue for these systems to generate an additional CDN$150,000 annually. The Company is actively pursuing other UV system sales from its International inquiry book which now contains in excess of US$160 million in tendered projects.

Service Systems President, Mr. Fielding stated, "The Company is very encouraged by these successes. These contracts are as a result of the extensive research programs undertaken, which have enabled the Company to offer a state-of-the-art UV disinfection system."

Service Systems International Inc. through its subsidiary UV Systems, manufactures and markets Ultra Guard, a state-of-the-art, patented ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system for municipal liquid waste, process and industrial water, potable and other water resources.
