Jen..I agree with Lisa. There is no set strategy with OEX or buying at the open. I like earnings plays because paradoxically they are easier for me than any other plays. Instead of 'guessing' if this oversold stock is going to finally rally or wonder if a stock like SUIT long lying dormant will to life upon earnings report. But I NEVER buy after hours only BEFORE, mostly because I'm still a novice at buying after hours. A company like DELL that trades higher before the open will most likely have gains for at least the first 1/2 hour or so. Waiting 45 minutes is okay if you are watching a sector like oil or internet, but for fast moving earnings plays or stocks like PFE, DELL, AMAT, I would grab it before 45 minutes.

Options I play only for up to 4-5 days and TOM is just perfect for an option play. LUV is better as a stock... It's really experience and getting burnt that finally got me a trading strategy with options that is least risky although I probably don't make as much on options as people who hold 1 month or more, but then I don't lose hardly anything with my way... I'd rather have 1/2 point on an option than risk losing the whole position. 1/2 point equates to 500 dollars and that is nice return for an average investment of 2,000-3,000 dollars
